What happened? Nobody really ever wanted it is what happened. I've never seen a part of tech so highly unlikely by the masses. We already have exactly what we want in a "metaverse" in gaming and VR is just never going to conventional enough in our lifetimes most likely.
Everyone in gaming or heavy into tech saw no convenience in the metaverse compared to what we already have. It was obviously made to monetize the consumer with no passion to actually create anything consumers actually need or want.
They are just delusional tbh.. at the same time we can prob communicate to diffrent planets just with the internet in the future we dont need a virtual metaverse for that wich is gonna cause a heavier strain than just a line of text
It seems like you guys are going out of your way to not show anybody quest three headset cause in the entire presentation not once did you show that?
Mark may think about offering a big incentive to increase interest.
Also, tech has not caught up yet with what they want to do w this. Now is not a good time for meta.

Maybe its in its infancy? Things don't get built overnight. Crossing into other platforms is unprecedented. If it happens, we will look back and say…wow, this is the beginning. Who knows.

While they don't reach their expected potential, they should be looking to Runescape to be honest.
Imagine going to the bank on your VR set or AR glasses without leaving the house and interact with your bank teller/account manager.
Also this becomes the banker iob so he also can work remote and in sweat pants because he is suited up in the metaverse.
This is just a theory of course. One thing pandemic showed us (if there was any need to confirm this) we need to see people and interact with people to feel human. So probably the metaverse could never reach its goal.
AR glasses could be the only shot but i think the amount of ridicule Google suffered at the time, severely damaged the chances of that becoming a thing.

People truly underestimate the utility of standard 2D screens. Computers, Smartphones, Tablets and Smart TVs pretty much satisfy most needs without causing too much discomfort to the user.
Metaverses are so irrelevant, that not even this video reached the million views lol.
The metaverse fulfills the niche that billionaires demand when they can't stand meeting "peasants" face to face.

Metaverse could be a thing. like using AR glasses in the kitchen while you cook a meal having a big screen come into view every time you look down the hall to the dining room also having them double as headphones without the sound coming from your ear is a big + or using them while cutting the grass could be a thing for either headphones to listen to music or to watch movie or video's on a small screen while we cut the grass on the riding lawn mower, or we could use them to play games like Yu-Gi-Oh where the characters pop out of the cards would be a good one or we could use them with artificial intelligence app to look at different things in the world and tell us what they are would come in handy for gardening or for other things like that where you don't know what your looking at yes you could just use your phone but having something that does mostly the same thing and is hands free is arguably more beneficial. meta wasted a ton of money on the metaverse because the real metaverse is like steam VR with the added feature of being able to invite your friends and going to play the same game from your steam VR or in games like world of war craft or final fantasy 14 adding in VR support would have people role playing in cities like they live there then you could add a spot in game where you could buy stuff related to the game like shirts or pants cups and so on and have it shipped to your house but the thing is it would have to look like a natural part of the game without breaking the immersion that is what the real metaverse looks like not like a Global supermarket chain but a in game Niche product chain. also people have the wrong idea about VR the way it is now I would like to play my favorite games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 in VR if all I was planning to do was hang out in the city it would be great with a VR treadmill that had a sit function now on the other hand if I was going to do some grinding in new area's 2D gaming all the way no way I want to feel like I'm there in a new zone with enemy's I have never seen before it is just way more comfortable playing on the TV but to each there own that is the future of VR its a mix of playing mmorpg on tv mode and VR mode and that is the killer app. hate to say it but mark would have done way better with the metaverse if he partnered with Square Enix or blizzard and did that idea it would have been a major success more people would have bought a VR headset and if he got a portion of the sales for a certain amount of time after the thing went live it could have been the best.

Meta caused its own failure. Oculus was a winning company and Facebook integration ruined it. Sony, Microsoft, and Steam will easily be top 3 given their catalogs of great products. That headset can be copied. Meta should be less greedy and pushy with a pair of twos, while the others have real hands.
The metaverse is fictional. It doesnt exist. The idea flopped around 2022. So everyone can just move along. There is nothing. Only VR headsets which have a niche market

the mataverse bet is about being ready to lead when the next "platform" arrives, which is not vr at all, but rather some sort of neural interface (some non-intrusive wearable, wrist band, glasses, or else) — it's clever but the timing is difficult: years, decades? some lead in tech? we don't know yet

Humans can only tolerate the virtual world for a few minutes at a time, that's what all the devices we use do. A phone or computer does not delete the real world entirely like VR sets do.

because ppl dont do it exists. I only got a headset for HL alyx but I stay for the free front row concerts and the courtside basketball games. Group activity(escape room, etc) Although there isn't a lot to do, so you're just going to end up in pron corn land
