Why is Ethereum moving to elliptic curves over hashes despite post quantum concerns?

I'm not a cryptographer so I wouldn't know and I'm not making an attempt to begin any FUD however I've heard that Elliptic Curve Cryptography will not be thought-about a Quantum-Protected or Publish Quantum Cryptographic algorithm. Appears to be like like Ethereum might be changing patricia merkle timber with verkle timber that are primarily based on elliptic curves[1].

I'd wish to assume the Ethereum builders know what they're doing and have Ethereum's finest curiosity however then that will require trusting folks in an area that's suppose to be trustless.
